WHY DIGITAL NOMADS LOVE GRANADA, NICARAGUA

Granada, Nicaragua is quickly becoming a popular destination for digital nomads looking for a balance of work (reliable Internet) and things to do. This colonial city offers its visitors affordability, culture, and a new coworking space.

Keep reading to see what life looks like for Digital Nomads in Granada, Nicaragua.

Affordable Cost of Living

Compared to its neighbour Costa Rica, Nicaragua is very affordable, especially when it comes to accommodations like hostels, hotels, and apartments. Eating out is also affordable and the food is delicious. Our favourite is The Garden Cafe in downtown Granada.

Lots of Outdoor Activities

If you love the great outdoors, Granada, Nicaragua is for you. Spend a day volcano hiking, kite-surfing, and more. If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, you’ll get it here. Here’s a list of our favourite things to do:

  • Kite surfing on Lake Ometepe: Yes, surfing is life in Nicaragua, but kite-surfing is gaining a ton of popularity. Spend an adventure fuelled weekend at Ometepe Kite Surf Centre.

  • Midnight Volcano Tour: Have you ever seen the hot red lava of a volcano at night? It’s spectacular. We suggest taking the Masaya Volcano Night Tour. You won’t regret it.

  • Water sports on Volcano Crater: Laguna de Apoyo is around 40 minutes away from Granada and a wonderful place to spend a night. Pack your swimsuit because there is a lot to do like freediving. If you’re looking to relax, spend a few days at Paradiso Hostel.

Discover a Rich Culture

Granada, Nicaragua is one of Central America’s oldest Spanish colonial towns making it full of rich history. Spend an afternoon at the chocolate museum and learn how cocoa is made and produced. Get a view of the city (especially at sunset) on the roof of Iglesia la Merced.

We suggest taking one of the many city tours. You can find a free one called Granada Free Walking Tour on Instagram.
